For Ryan Bingham happiness consists of going through life, as the poet said, light of luggage, that is, loaded strictly with what fits in a small suitcase, of those that can be loaded aboard the plane without even checking in airport terminal. Happiness is achieved, according to him, looking at things with distance and flying over problems. Literally. Because Ryan travels constantly for work reasons: he is the representative of a human resources company that other companies hire to move and dismiss workers who are no longer interested.
That's something Ryan doesn't mind doing. First, because he doesn't feel concerned in the least by the problems that the dismissal can generate to the people who sit before him to receive such bad news. But second, but no less important, because with so much travel you are about to become the seventh person - and the youngest - to get the card that American Airlines issues to those who have managed to fly their lines over 10,000 miles. All that way of life, however, is suddenly threatened with the innovative proposal of a new co-worker, who has designed an interface that would allow to dismiss workers from any part of the country without having to travel there.

Although he did not get any Oscar despite his six nominations - including best film, best director, best adapted screenplay, best actor and best supporting actresses - this film by Jason Reitmann won unanimous applause from critics and audiences, probably because it's about a current and easily recognizable story narrated with exquisite elegance and starring George Clooney in a state of interpretive grace. The director had already surprised two years before with Juno and this time took advantage of a homonymous novel by Walter Kim to explain that fleeing from problems does not ensure happiness either.
